BRIEF
We were tasked to design a high-end ceramic cover plate for the AXOR My Edition mixer. This involves leveraging our skills as postgrad students to create a product that embodies luxury. Inspired by the elegance of the AXOR My Edition mixer, our goal is to fuse form and function, elevating this cover plate into a symbol of timeless sophistication. We will focus on every detail, ensuring that our design not only meets but exceeds the expectations of luxury and craftsmanship.

Research
As part of our first task, we were required to gather research and information on AXOR, our chosen manufacturing process, and the concept we intended to create for our project.
The importance of research in this project could not be overstated, as it was vital to ensure that the project was feasible and that the concept would meet the client's needs. Gathering research also enabled us to identify potential risks and create a plan to tackle them.
As part of our first task, we were required to gather research and information on AXOR, our chosen manufacturing process, and the concept we intended to create for our project.

For ideation I created a couple of sketches where I was focusing on presenting a vision of what my idea would look like if it were finalized and turned into a plate

FINAL OUTCOME
The final outcome of all of my efforts was incredibly gratifying. The plate looks even better than I imagined, and it incorporates all of the features I wanted. I am especially pleased with the intricate details.

Why This Design?
Luxury is subjective. For me, waves colliding in an abstract way represent luxury because they evoke the peace and chaos of everyday life. The waves can be seen as a metaphor for the ups and downs that we all experience. Sometimes, life is calm and peaceful, like the waves before they crash. Other times, life is chaotic and overwhelming, like the waves crashing on the shore.
However, even in the midst of chaos, there is always beauty to be found. The waves crashing on the shore are a reminder of the power of nature and the beauty of the world around us. When I look at waves crashing in an abstract way, I feel a sense of peace and tranquility. I am reminded that even though life can be chaotic, there is always beauty to be found.

Working with clay for the first time was a stressful experience. I had to consider a multitude of factors that could have complicated the design process, such as the clay's dry time, thickness, and firing temperature. I quickly learned that clay is a complex material with many unique properties, each of which plays a role in shaping the final product. I realized that if I were to attempt this project again, I would need to study the behavior of clay more thoroughly.
For example, I discovered that the thickness of the clay affects its drying time and the amount of shrinkage that occurs during firing. I also learned that the type of clay I used can have a significant impact on the finished product. Next time, I will be better prepared to handle the unexpected and to create unique and beautiful pieces of art.
